About Valerie Billing

Valerie Billing joined the Central College faculty in 2017. She teaches courses in Shakespeare, early British literature, early world literature, LGBTQ literature and disability studies. Her current research focuses on the erotics of size in early modern literature and culture, and her publications have appeared in the peer-reviewed journals “Renaissance Drama” and the “Journal for Early Modern Cultural Studies,” and in a collection entitled “Queer Shakespeare: Desire and Sexuality,” edited by Goran Stanivukovic (Bloomsbury, 2017).

When not wearing her English professor hat, Valerie enjoys yoga, gardening and taking on kitchen projects from bread-baking to mustard-making to preserving her harvests as jams, sauces and salsas.
